After bailing on my ducky in this big water I rode

After bailing on my ducky in this big water I rode on the front of a cat to finish the run. I wasn't feeling good about paddling that day I felt like I was just getting pushed around and a bad swim was inevitable.

I felt surprisingly safe on the cat! Actually it was super fun! Unfortunately I didn't get footage of the biggest wave (I think it was Maytag) because I turned my GoPro off when we were going through calm water to save battery and I didn't see it in time to press record. Instead I chose to grab straps to hang on 🤣

I'm thankful for a great river crew that is safety focused and FUN 🙌😍

I was so nervous to go ride Parsen Bowl by myself... But WOW 😲 those views did not disappoint and there were plenty of blue runs for my anxiety ridden 🍑 🤣

Day two on the Ark in a smaller ducky (@airewhitewater Tater). Pine Creek to Parkdale somewhere in the range of 2500cfs and up.

I lasted longer in my ducky than Day 1 (see previous video) but I still ended up having an anxiety attack (unofficial diagnosis) and hopping on my friends cat. I am very glad I did because the rapids only got bigger! Unfortunately I didn't catch a video of the biggest rapid because I was afraid of falling off if I reached for my @gopro 🤣 but I got some great footage to stay tuned for video number 3.

If I said I was fearless I would be lying! This water ended up being a little too big for me in my smaller ducky, an @airewhitewater Tater and I ended up hopping on another person's raft to finish the run. I felt like I was getting pushed around and wasn't able to paddle well enough to pick good lines. I still love being in a ducky I just have to work on my skills and gain more confidence for big water paddling.

I usually have a little fear and anxiety on the water. Just enough to keep me sharp but not enough to stop me. This time it stopped me. After finishing the run in a raft I ended up having a great day! It's ok to call it if you're not having a good day. It's better to say I'm done for the day than to push through and make your day worse.

I've done this run (Salida East to Vallie Bridge) in an Aire Lynx tandem at a similar water level (in this video it's running around 2600-2800 cfs and previously I didn't at 2300-2500 cfs) and thought it was more fun than scary.

End of my second season, I've made a lot of improvements but still have things to work on 🤣

I got a little too relaxed, stopped focusing and almost caught an edge 😯

In this instance it was a good thing I'm not fast 🤣 that usually works against me 😁

Part two! Second run down Clear Creek in Golden we

Part two! Second run down Clear Creek in Golden went much smoother. All I did was adjust my seat forward and foot thwart forward so there was more weight in the front of the boat.

The paddle was still too long but I had a much easier time steering the Tater than the first run with that one adjustment. I still have work to do on technique.
